Fridays workout at Elevate Fitness

Warm up
Sprint in place* power jaxs* jumps* high knee* mummy kicks
Each exercise of 1 minute for 3 straight rounds. increase the intensity every round

workout ( Each exercise is one minute long. complete 3 rounds of each while increasing the intensity each round)

*push up jaxs
*shoulder press with hands on the floor
*pull ups with stability ball in legs
*jump squats

*Globe jumps
*Cable flies
*rows withe cable on BOSU
*Dips on floor

*Front kicks- punches
*Belt Kicks - push punches

sprint on treadmil 1 lap at 8mph 2 times

Run 5 miles

Relationship

Being a personal training is probably one of the most rewarding jobs ever. We get to push people to better themselves as well as better ourselves. The relationships that we gain are absolutely priceless. Sure people may leave every now and then, but you gain such an amazing relationship when you spent that much time with one person. Some times after a workout I literally feel like we went threw war together. You truly gain a great bond.
I've realized this more today then any other. People come into our lives for a reason. You might not always know the reason, or want to know. But there is always a reason. I thank GOD for the friendships that I have mad and will continue to make as a personal trainer.
I know this post isn't much about fitness as it about life. But I felt I needed to step back a bit and be grateful.

Whats in the water in Greenwich CT?

Ok, we all know that we are suppose to drink water and not sugar juices.
Im not going to preach to you about how important water is. And Im not going to say that without enough water its going to be hard to meet the results that you want. There is no need for me to say this because you already it. Right?
You better.
Quick stat:
1 vente mocca latte from Starbucks ( I don't even know if I spelt that right)
to rehydrate yourself from that one drink you have to have 26, ya 26 cups of water.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the hardest job in the WORLD?

I give much much respect to all the Mom's out there.
First of all, they showed up to class today even though it was a snow day.
Snow doesn't stop our girls.
So while all the ladies worked out with Jill and Deb I played uncle Gary.
No let me start by saying I have a beautiful 1 1/2 year old at home. Sure shes a handful, but I love every second of it.
Now most of these women have 3 or 4 kids. Holy Sh&%!!!!
Anyway, they brought them in today. And I was more tiered after an hour with all those kids then I am after a full days work. I loved every second of it and I love that our clients bring there kids in. But WOW!

I just want to let all the women in the world know that I understand you have the hardest job out there. And the most rewarding.

Women don't get the love that they deserve. Most men wouldn't be able to handle the kids for a day rather then all the time. I guess what I'm trying to say ids that all you women ROCK.
And to all the guys out there, Let your lady know how grateful you are of her.

Instantly Identify Online Scams

Nothing makes my blood boil like the Wt. Loss scams I see online. They drive me nuts.

Now it's bad enough they make absurd claims that are just flat out lies. But what takes the cake is the fact that nowadays they are fraudulently using the Better Business Bureau seal of approval to flat out trick you. Can you believe that?!

So how can you tell if that's the case?

Simple. If you see the BBB seal on a website and it does NOT hyperlink to the Better Business Bureau website (which is BBB.org) so you can review the company's history, then it is a fake. It is a scam. The people that have created that site are liars!

Legitimate companies like Prograde Nutrition(http://elevatefitnesspt.getprograde.com/) go through the trouble of actually going through the process of getting approved by the Better Business Bureau. When you go to their website you'll see the BBB seal. And it is legit because it takes you to BBB.org to prove it when you click on the image.

The Internet can be a scary place. But there are good people and good companies doing business online. And now you know one more way to recognize them - AND the bad guys.

Are you REALLY working twords your goals

"Why am I not losing weight when I'm working so hard at it"

Answer:
Are you really working as hard as you can?
Have patients because if you're busting your a$$ you will see the results.
If your not you wont. It's just that simple.

And guess what. Only you know how hard you're really working.
YOU have the answer.
Everything you need to succeed is within you now!!!

New Years Resolution. Whats that.

One of my clients told me today that the saddest day of the year is next Monday January 26th. He said that's the day when everyone realizes that they haven't been sticking to their new years resolutions.
What to know what I think of New Years resolutions. I think they're bull sh%&.
If you want to change your life you have to make a decisions. Resolutions don't stick but decisions do.
You have to be clear on what you want. Is your new years resolution to lose weight? Cool, lose a pound and get on your way.
How many pounds do you want to lose?
When do you want to lose them by?
Why?
Why?
There has to be a "why" behind everything or else you wont do it.

Get clear. Take the time to acutually think about it. You deserver to give yourself that gift.
So, scratch the resolutions and get clear on a decision.
Please dont let January 26th be a sad day for you. Let it be the happiest and clearest day of your life, because you made the decision to change forecver.

Back from Boston and so Grateful for people

Just got back from Boston about 30 minutes ago. 
We went up to see the Boston Blazers home opener. Even though they lost we had a great time.  
One of my clients is the owner of the team and he invited us up to see the games a his guests. 

One of the greatest parts of being a trainer is the people that you meet. I love changing people physiology and making them look great naked. But I really love the conversations and the closeness that you gain from spending that much time with an individual. That to me is priceless. 

I look so forward to seeing all the girls in the semi-private training classes as they are always so grateful for what we have created at Elevate Fitness. We wouldn't be were we are without them. They always come in and have the nicest things to say to us (thats until they started their workout).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's the people and the relationships that we build that matter. I am so grateful for the everyone in my life.

SNOWING in Greenwich CT

When the weather gets bad so many people come up with excuses not to workout.
1. The weathers bad.
2. I dont have anyone to watch my kids
3. I just think I should take the day off. I promise Ill workout tomorrow. (Ya right)
And so on...

We hold semi-private training classes at our gym and all the women have kids. Not just 1, most have 3-4. I bet every single one of them shows up today. They find ways to get to the gym. Thats why they get the results they do. They dont make excuses. They just take action.

There is always going to be ways to get out of things. Its your job to keep your eye on the prize. Make it happen. Or as Nike says " Just Do It".

I have to be perfect with my diet. Why?

NO ONE IS PERFECT!!
I cant stress this one enough. To may times people beat themselves up because they feel like they have to be perfect at what they do. Especially at their diet if they're trying to lose weight.

Im going to give you some inside trainer information here, so listen up. My favorite food is pizza. And guess what, I eat it. WOW!! No way, you're a trainer and you look so fit. Your right, I am a trainer and I do look fit, because I dont eat it everyday and I work my ass off in the gym.

Dont kill yourself if you're not perfect on your diet. use the 90% rule. You'll be perfect only 90% of the time. That way you're not setting yourself up for falure.

Have the cookie, but only have one. I dont care what anyone says, you CAN only have one. You dont need to eat the whole box. We all know what we are suppose to be eating and not eating.

I dont have time to workout.

Studies show that only a single strength training workout per week during times when you cannot train as frequently as you normally do, is an effective way to maintain your current levels of strength and lean muscle mass.



There is no excuse that I haven't heard. There is no excuse that I haven't used. You don't have to be perfect so please don't try to be.



You deserve to train your body. Don't look at it as a chore. We are the lucky ones. Look at all the people that can walk and would love to be working out.

Why cant I lose the weight?

The number one question.

People seem to think that if you just workout you can eat whatever you want. Someone once told me that they run every morning just so they can eat anything they want for the rest of the day. That same person asked me why they aren't able to lose weight. WHAT? Stop shoveling food in your mouth.
If you want to lose weight you have to workout AND eat properly. Everyone knows what to eat and what not to eat. You don't need a nutritious to tell you what to eat. People think that they are going to go to a nutritionist and they will give them the magic potion. Let me be the first to tell you that there is no magic potion.
